From its beginning, Gateway Church has experienced God's amazing blessings. Gateway's very name and basis for ministry comes from the biblical account of Jacob's encounter with God in the book of Genesis. While camping in the desert, Jacob had a dream about angels ascending and descending on a ladder from heaven. Then the Lord appeared to Jacob in his dream and assured him of His protection, His blessings and His presence. When Jacob awoke from his dream and realized that God was with him, he exclaimed, "What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!" (Genesis 28:17, NLT).

Just as Jacob realized that God had a unique purpose for his life, at Gateway, we, too, recognize that God has a specific plan and purpose for each person's life. That's why "we're all about people." The broad scope and variety of ministries at Gateway are simply a reflection of our heart to help people of all economic, social and ethnic backgrounds in the Metroplex and around the world!
